Team Building Events

The City Kitchen is a boutique culinary company that specializes in unique, elegant, and creative events. We can design a team building brunch, lunch, dinner or cocktail party cooking class for you and your team, or you and your clients, at select venues and throughout the Bay Area. Choose from one of our many pre-designed menus, or have us customize a menu for your event. Based on the size of the venue, we offer classes for 10 to 60 guests.

Interested in an Iron Chef competition? We can make it happen. Perfect for corporate team building or family fun, our competitive cooking events are designed to inspire creativity and a little friendly competition. Our version of the popular TV series is a timed culinary challenge to see who can stand the heat of the kitchen. Your group will be divided into teams, and each team will work under the guidance of a professional chef to create a meal that will be judged.

First, your team will brainstorm ideas inspired from a mystery basket of seasonal ingredients, including different proteins, fruits, vegetables and starches. Your group will also have access to our well-stocked pantry of herbs, spices, oils and vinegar. Then, you’ll work together with your culinary coach to strategize and delegate tasks in order to execute a creative, beautiful and of course, tasty meal. Each team will produce enough portions to sample their own efforts, as well as share with their rival team or teams, collectively creating a full meal.

An impartial judge will determine a winning team based on taste, plating/presentation and original use of the ingredients. Judging can also include team cohesiveness, communication and cleanliness of work stations throughout the competition.

Iron Chef competitive cooking events are a fun and spirited teamwork activity and work well for corporate events or gatherings of friends and family. This culinary adventure will get your business cooking!

Planning an event doesn’t have to be stressful or time-consuming. At The City Kitchen we care about your event as much as you do and are dedicated to ensuring that everything goes perfectly. Each of the venues that we work with has their own rental rate. We work with all of them closely and are happy to reach out to them if you have a specific date in mind for your event. All of the venues begin around $1000 for a team building cooking class or Iron Chef competition. This does not include the cost of the class, staff, beverages, and any additional items.

Our class pricing ranges from $90 to $110 per person, depending on the size of the group. Smaller groups begin at $110 and larger groups begin at $90, and that includes all chef instructors, food, dishwasher (if needed), aprons for the class to wear while cooking, and really pretty recipe packets for each guest to take home at the end. We usually need one or more servers to help with events, and each server is $35 per hour. Larger classes will need two or more servers.

We work hard to make your event special, and therefore we include an 18% service charge on all final bills. No additional gratuity is expected. We also (whether we like it or not), have to include sales tax.

Cookhouse – 253 Columbus Ave. San Francisco, 94133
A beautiful spot located in the heart of San Francisco with views of Coit Tower and the TransAmerica Building. The open kitchen has a large gas range and a marble center island with a 5-burner induction cooktop. This space is perfect for cooking classes and private events where the food is the star. Wine and beer can be purchased by the bottle or case.

Naked Kitchen – 945 Valencia St. San Francisco, 94110
Naked Kitchen is housed in a Queen Victorian built in 1870 located in the heart of the Mission on Valenica Street. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a large Chef’s Table that seats 10 guests in direct view of the action in the kitchen. Inside the venue there are two dining rooms able to seat up to 40 guests, or can be transformed into a reception area able to accommodate 60 guests.

SF Wine Center – 757 Bryant St. San Francisco, 94107
Located in SOMA, this venue feels like a wine library, with lots of dark wood and city views. Owner Brian McGonigle imports wines from around the world, and offers bottles from over 50 small production, artisanal wineries – many of which aren’t available anywhere else. Wine experts are available for wine tastings and food & wine pairing events.

SF Studio Smith – 1440 Bush St, San Francisco, 94109
Their 3,650 sq. ft studio has 2 north facing large windows which bring in lots of sunlight, a professional kitchen, lounge, and a spacious dining room. This venue is perfect for both small and large events, with room for up to 175 guests for a cocktail party and plenty of seating options for sitdown brunches, lunches and dinners. SF Studio Smith is conveniently located on Bush St. between Van Ness & Polk St., off U.S. 101 and walking distance from BART.
